8. Control Your Inner Strength

Control your emotions and find your inner strength.

Affirmation: I was born with inner strength. I am a strong, resilient person.

Hell & High Water Song by Major Lazer  (ft Alessia Cara)

This is like the Strength tarot card! It is a girl relaxing, sitting in her cat’s lap, a role reversal to make you rethink STRENGTH as a concept. If you read Tarot, think of this card like the Strength Card. In Tarot, the card is a gentle woman taming a lion with patience and kindness. Think of that lion like your HEART. Strength, when really considered, is inside you. This card is all about that inner strength, controlling those inner emotions to keep external peace. As the saying goes, “ Don’t give them the satisfaction.” Control your emotions, don’t let them have control over you.

What do I mean by strength? I am not talking about your biceps. Conventional wisdom about strength is it all comes from external factors, but real strength starts within you. Many people are aware of the need for ongoing self-improvement. But often the emphasis is placed on those external factors: physical fitness, acquiring skills to make yourself a stronger leader or executive. However, none of that will get you where you truly want to go without support from a strong inner core. Your inner strength is best defined as the stable traits, an enduring source of well-being, wise and effective action, and contributions to others. In other words, your inner strength is your ability to do the right thing the right way without any concern about what others think.
